Year 11 Explore and Extend Week

   |

The Explore and Extend program will be held in Week 11 (6 – 9 April) for the Year 11 students. After consultation with students, we have developed a range of experiences that the students have chosen from and represent some of the activities/events that the pandemic has impacted for them.

These include:

Global Adventures:
Over 4 days we will travel the globe starting with a visit to the Nan Hai Pu Tuo Buddhist Temple at Sellicks Hill. Then students will experience an Asian cuisine cooking class at Sticky Rice Cooking School Stirling. We will visit Hahndorf for a traditional German lunch and cultural immersion and finish with an Amazing Race in the city visiting cultural locations and experiencing a traditional Japanese lunch.
Travelling the world requires student to try new foods, find their way around, catch public transport, make the most of new experiences, meet new people and understand different cultures. We want students to have an opportunity to try all of this here in Adelaide.
Students will stay 2 nights at Woodhouse Activity Centre on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 April returning to school on Thursday the 8 April for a 3:25 pick up. On Friday, students will meet at school and spend the day in the city on an ‘Amazing Race’ style activity, returning to school by 3pm.
Cost: $550

Surf, Sun and Sea:
Beyond the Classroom offers a brilliant surf camp based out of the York Peninsula. Students will stay 3 nights in tents at Corny Point. All instructors are experienced surfers; hold senior first aid, Level 1 surf coach certificates, surf rescue certificates and working with children police clearance certificates.
Students will participate in Surfing, snorkelling and beach activities around Berry Bay. All accommodation, travel and activities are included in this camp. Most food will be provided.
Cost: $850

Work and the City:
Experience a range of workplaces, exploring potential career pathways. Students will visit the Universities, attend workshops and a range of work places. This is not an overnight camp. Students meet each day in the city and are dismissed from the city. They provide their own lunch. The cost of workshops are included in the cost.
Cost: $100

APY Lands:
Students attending the APY trip will have returned to school by Week 11. They are able to use this week to catch up on work missed while away on APY. They can study from home or be supervised at school in TLC.  Cost: Already paid

Work Experience:
A number of students are using this week to complete their own work experience after it was cancelled in 2020. This must be booked through Ms Castine – Work Experience Coordinator.

Parents will be sent the relevant Consent2Go for the experience their child has selected. Parents are required to pay for this camp. We have endeavoured to keep costs to a minimum with these camps but understand that this expense may be difficult for some families. If you are not able make the payment, please let us know ASAP so that your child can participate in an alternative activity.
