Pedal Prix Sponsors

Dear Parents,

The Pedal Prix squad is about to start its season of practices and races, kick-starting this weekend with a trial day at School. The cars have been serviced and are running beautifully and we have stripped the bodies back ready to brand them with St John’s colours and also with the logos of organisations and companies that support our team. COVID-19 has restricted racing and we have two major races at Victoria Park and The Bend this year.

The team is always after support with food and catering on race days, with parts, with expertise, and financial support. Our intention is to brand the cars with all those organisations that support us in any way. If you able to help please email Suzy Baldry or Richard Anderson ASAP. We are hoping to brand the cars in the next two weeks.

Yours sincerely

Richard Anderson and Suzy Baldry

2021 Pedal Prix Season

St John’s Grammar is gearing up for the 2021 The Pedal Prix Season.

Every year a fabulous team of parents provide support and encouragement to keep our team travelling, and we could not be successful without the support of this Parent Support Group.

There are a variety of ways to be involved, from attending official and training events and cheering on our cars, to more specific roles in:

  • Cooking
  • Marshalling
  • Bike maintenance and building

We launch on Sunday 14 March with a ‘Come and Try’ morning at 10:30am at the Secondary Campus.  Everyone is welcome, you might even get a spin in a car!

Secondary Campus Sport in 2021

Dear Parents,

A reminder that all Term 1 Summer sport trainings have started, please see below for the training schedule. Games schedules and teams are still being finalised, when we receive these from the sporting associations they will be communicated via Canvas and the school website. If your child is not on the Sport Canvas page they must visit the PE Office and let Mr Travis or Mrs Watson know.

Included below is the Secondary School Sport Policy, Summer Season Training/Game Schedule and Uniform Outline. Canvas is our main form of communication so please ensure your child has ‘accepted’ the invitation to the course.

If you have any questions or issues please contact us on the emails listed below.

Yours sincerely,

What does it mean to be an Exceptional Learner?

One of the biggest movements in education in the 21st century is to personalise learning for every student.

This supports the move away from an education system that had the central purpose of compliance and conformity, ranking students on their ability to reproduce the selected knowledge successfully, usually in an exam situation. Education now recognises that our current and future graduates need a broader and greater level of skills and abilities, and that diversity of these is critical for our society’s progression.

Connections and relationships aren’t interchangable

As a teacher with a few years’ experience teaching Electronics to Middle School students I can personally vouch for the basic truth that connecting things together does not always lead to a productive relationship, and it is here that this little monologue dovetails with the subject of classrooms and teaching.
